TXI Announces Construction Start-Up in Oklahoma

DALLAS, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Dallas-based TXI (NYSE: TXI) announced today that it has begun construction of a crushed stone operation near the town of Mill Creek in Johnston County, Oklahoma.

Construction aggregates processed through the new facility will be distributed into the growing Texas and Oklahoma markets. When completed, TXI expects its Oklahoma Stone plant to have an annual production capacity of 5 million tons.

Edwin Gerik, Jr., General Operations Manager of TXI's Texas/Oklahoma Aggregates stated, "This project is evidence of TXI's commitment to pursuing long-term profitable growth opportunities and supports the company's goal of growing its aggregate business in those markets we choose to serve."

Construction of the production facility is presently under way and is scheduled for completion in early summer 2002.
