DALLAS, Oct. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Dallas-based TXI (NYSE: TXI) announced today that David A. Reed has been elected to the Board of Directors. His election took place at the Board Meeting following the Company's annual shareholder meeting today. The election of Mr. Reed is an addition to the TXI Board and brings the number to ten.

Currently Reed is Managing Partner of Causeway Capital Partners L.P., a Dallas, Texas based private investment firm, with focus on venture capital activities.
Prior to his October 1, 2000 retirement, Reed served as Senior Vice Chair-Global Accounts, Industries, Sales and Marketing at Ernst & Young, one of the five largest accounting firms in the world. As Senior Vice Chairman, Reed had worldwide responsibilities for account management of Ernst & Young's Top 150 global accounts.
While at Ernst & Young, Reed served on its U.S. Board's Management Committee, International Advisory Council, and Investment Board. As a member of the Investment Board he was charged with the responsibility for the firm's venture capital investment activities. During his career with Ernst & Young, he was also Vice Chair and Firmwide Operating Partner for North American Area Operations and Vice Chair and Regional Managing Partner, South and West Regions.
A 1970 graduate of Texas Tech University, Mr. Reed was named Texas Tech Distinguished Accounting Alumnus in 1995.
